The client for this project clearly instructed our design team that they required a social eating space that also allowed for a residential space. Our design team however wanted to take this further and allow for an integrated social space that would in turn improve the flow and traffic of the public through the city centre of Coventry.

The project involved creating a housing establishment on a site established close to the motorway in Coventry. After primary and secondary research of the diverse population within Coventry and the food interest, it has. A focus on cultural eating was established and was used as a tool to bring people together in the atrium space where stalls are positioned, they can cook for each other and be involved within the process.

Creating a permeable open inviting social space was crucial to the success of the project which transferred in to the use of curved glass panels and a tensile fabric roof to promote fluidity that helped create bright and airy conditions for such social interactions to take place.

The rigid sections of the project such as the housing units required more privacy and subtle measures have been taken to ensure this such as the use of frosted glass, change of levels. These units involved the use of 3D printing as a structural tool which was a lot more efficient, reliable and a cheaper alternative than regular building procedure which ensured the project to be handed on time and lower than the anticipated budget.

Principle 1: Integrity
Impartiality and undue influence
Key points to consider from this part of the policy
-
When carrying out our projects with the clients, we must make sure professionally with a clear objective each time of the activities to be carried out (1.1 pg. 6)
-
Due to having consultants and various other specialists that come in to aid in manufacturing and production, we must be careful as a business not to be improperly influenced by them and stick to what the clients need (1.4 pg.6)
-
When dealing with all aspects of the process with the clients from design to manufacturing the individual members of the business need to to be honest and truthful (1.2 pg. 6)
Conflicts of interest
Key points to consider from this part of the policy
-
As we develop in the second and third years of the business plan, some members may wish to follow into different genres or areas of 3D printing and design, which may cause a conflict of interest within the team. When this occurs, the first thing to do is make sure all parties, such as each team member, manufacturing specialities, and consultants, are notified (3.1 pg. 6).
Confidentiality and privacy
Key points to consider from this part of the policy
-
As a company, we have to ensure that the admin team only uses personal data for information that aids the purpose of the client and purchase of the product and that the admin team has gained permission from the client (4.5(a)&(b) page.7)
Handling client money
-
To avoid any risk with privacy issues of money and managing client money as a company we should aim not to agree to keep money from the client, return any extra money given by accident and keep payments secure and clearly outlined for the client (5.1-2 pg. 7.)
-
We should aim to as a company not hold clients money to use for a project but set out a definite price and budget from the start of a project; this will aid us in avoiding any mistakes or problems with withdrawing client money without knowledge or permission (5.3 pg.7)

Principle 2: Competence
Skill, knowledge, care, ability
-
In both the design and manufacturing teams, we must be able to provide the wisdom, the expertise, and technical resources appropriate for the project as we are reliant on technology in most of our work (1.2 pg.9)
-
We must make sure to carry out quality checks and quality control as we need to exercise proper supervision of all work done and accept professional responsibility for it. Even though we rely on high-tech technology that promises 100% accuracy and consistency, we still need to check whats in place to make sure (1.7 pg.10).
-
As technology grows and changes over the years of the business, the design team and manufacturing team needs to develop and update their skills, knowledge, and expertise to maintain and improve their competence throughout their careers (1.11 pg.10). This is because it will be very beneficial for the clients, the natural environment and the quality of the built environment.
Terms of appointment
-
As a business, we have to make sure there is an appointment recording system as all client, and member meetings must be lucid, agreed and recorded in writing before the commencement of any professional services (2.1 pg.10)
-
We should aim to make sure that the terms of the contract are legally accurate, are compatible with other provisions and will not lead to excessive liabilities (2.6 pg.11)
The environment
-
Our business core value is about the environment, and so, therefore, all members are expected to advise their clients on the need, for specialist professional advice about safeguards to the local climate, ecology, and biodiversity (13.3 pg.16)
-
Wit our firm using a lot of sustainable materials mainly we must ensure to use reasonable endeavours to specify and use sustainable materials on the client's projects (13.7 pg.16)
-
Our biggest aim as a business is to use reasonable efforts to minimise whole-life carbon and energy use for our big projects and what clients want from us (13.8 pg.16)
