The client for this project clearly instructed our design team that they required a social eating space that also allowed for a residential space. Our design team however wanted to take this further and allow for an integrated social space that would in turn improve the flow and traffic of the public through the city centre of Coventry.

The project involved creating a housing establishment on a site established close to the motorway in Coventry. After primary and secondary research of the diverse population within Coventry and the food interest, it has. A focus on cultural eating was established and was used as a tool to bring people together in the atrium space where stalls are positioned, they can cook for each other and be involved within the process.

Creating a permeable open inviting social space was crucial to the success of the project which transferred in to the use of curved glass panels and a tensile fabric roof to promote fluidity that helped create bright and airy conditions for such social interactions to take place.

The rigid sections of the project such as the housing units required more privacy and subtle measures have been taken to ensure this such as the use of frosted glass, change of levels. These units involved the use of 3D printing as a structural tool which was a lot more efficient, reliable and a cheaper alternative than regular building procedure which ensured the project to be handed on time and lower than the anticipated budget.

WHAT I DO FOR THE COMPANY
Being a part of the design team within our dynamic company, I am in charge of not only foreseeing the design development, but I also work closely with our Design Manager Eyob to ensure that our vibrant designs are met with our ethos as a brand and our designs maintain bespoke elements. Being the Architectural Illustration Director, this also means I am in charge of all things visual to do with our company- artistic conceptualisation is a primary focus of mine, and I work on the creative curation of our company.

CAREER JOURNEY
I started my journey into architecture at Nottingham Trent University, where I later re-joined to do my Masters. Since I have worked with architects at ARC-ML registered architects, and BE-Design registered architects. With these years of experience, I have furthered my knowledge in terms of architecture and clientele needs, as well as working closely with the directors in such small firms; it has allowed me to see the ins and outs of how it is running a firm. Although I enjoyed these experiences, I wanted to create something I could call my own and also hone my creative direction skills; hence ADAPT studios. Having known Isaac from our years studying architecture, we stayed in contact throughout the years of our professional careers and decided it was time to create our own company.
AIMS FOR THE FUTURE
My aims for the future of the company are to ensure that our brand works closely with clients continuously. As we are working with growing technology, we would aim to further expand into international operations and to share our designs worldwide.
ONE THING I LOVE ABOUT THE JOB

Being a creative director of ADAPT Studio, I love overseeing visual operations and the whole graphics side of our company. Being such a creative since I started my architectural journey, it is so important to me that we are represented visually, and I love being so heavily involved in this and seeing our visions grow through creative methods.
