The client for this project clearly instructed our design team that they required a social eating space that also allowed for a residential space. Our design team however wanted to take this further and allow for an integrated social space that would in turn improve the flow and traffic of the public through the city centre of Coventry.

The project involved creating a housing establishment on a site established close to the motorway in Coventry. After primary and secondary research of the diverse population within Coventry and the food interest, it has. A focus on cultural eating was established and was used as a tool to bring people together in the atrium space where stalls are positioned, they can cook for each other and be involved within the process.

Creating a permeable open inviting social space was crucial to the success of the project which transferred in to the use of curved glass panels and a tensile fabric roof to promote fluidity that helped create bright and airy conditions for such social interactions to take place.

The rigid sections of the project such as the housing units required more privacy and subtle measures have been taken to ensure this such as the use of frosted glass, change of levels. These units involved the use of 3D printing as a structural tool which was a lot more efficient, reliable and a cheaper alternative than regular building procedure which ensured the project to be handed on time and lower than the anticipated budget.

Task 1.4: Seline Natour needs to be updated of missed meeting and to change the graphics of the website.
Action to task: Seline has been updated on the last meeting and brought along some logo iterations to discuss in the session.
Task 2: Business plan discussion with Simon.
Action to task: We was encouraged to question our business plan and if it can be possible by Simon and asked to think about;
-
The manufacturing side of the business plan is something we need to understand and provide information on the website for people to see
-
Health and safety and insurance
-
Looking at different precedents of companies that are designers and manufacturers
-
Making the business plan simpler to understand for us and the target market
Task 3: Development of business plan.
Action to task: After the discussion with Simon we agreed as a group that the business plan should be a company which offers design and manufacturing, this could overlap or be separate. Furthermore, this idea can be integrated into the design of the website by having a split of different sections to the website. The development of having the design and manufacturing create a stronger business and also provides a cushion if one side of the business fails or depletes for a season. Our business plan has developed so that we design the secondary and tertiary side of the renovations to old grids of buildings and so this means we need to research cladding systems and their websites.
We agreed that the first year would be just design the in the second and third year the manufacturing side of the business comes in. The core of the plan is that we specialise and promote or offer to have both design and manufacturing.
Task 4: Business plan roles change.
Action to task: After the development of the business plan we agreed that the roles of the business plan should change to accommodate the manufacturing and design side of the business.
Nayeem Shaik - Financial and manufacturing operations manager
Seline Natour - Architectural illustration director (same)
Isaac Moody - Conservation and manufacturing director
Vikas Parekh - Public relations associate (same)
Eyob Mulat – Head of design
Task 5: Initial Logo Iterations
Action to task: Below are some logo iterations we commented on as a group;

Task 6: Website design and development
Action to task: Seline and Isaac suggested that the website should include process diagrams or breakdowns that explain how the process of the business works and that the values of the business should be clearly stated on the website. Anthony suggested that the website will have a core page that has business plan, roles, news and blog then a sub website that has the manufacturing side. We have to make sure its clear to use for both the design and manufacturing side.
Tasks to be completed for next meeting: 07th November 2019
Blog to be updated by Eyob Mulat.
Nayeem Shaik to update finances in terms of the three projects we have and what we expect from the new projects we undertake.
Target market research and how best to offer both design and manufacturing to the clients needs to be researched by Vikas Parekh.
Isaac Moody to look at precedents of 3D printing companies and precedents for the business plan.
Seline to carry on updating the design of the website and start animations/visuals for business plan.
